KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Tennessee State Senator Richard Briggs has sponsored a bill to limit access to raw milk.

Through Tennessee Senate Bill 15, Briggs hopes to ban practice of buying a share in a cow for a portion of its raw milk. Individual owners of dairy cows, however, would be allowed to drink raw milk from the cattle they own. The bill reads:

"A person who is the sole owner of a hoofed mammal may use the milk from the animal for the owner's personal consumption or other personal use. This section does not apply to a person who owns a partial interest in a hoofed mammal."

In June 2018, several children after an E. coli outbreak believed to have come from consuming raw milk. The raw milk in question came from the French Broad Farm.
