Artists Encouraged to Submit Work for “Gallery of Arts Tribute,” Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
KNOXVILLE, TN – The Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission announce a call for artists within 50 miles of Knoxville to submit works for the sixth annual Gallery of Arts Tribute. Artists need to deliver works directly to the Emporium 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 23 or Dec. 30. There is no entry fee.
This exhibition will recognize local artists and honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with approximately 40-50 fine art works of all media to be displayed Jan. 3-31, 2020 in the Main Lower Gallery of the Emporium Center.
Artwork should provide one or more of the following:
- A response to the 2020 theme of “Let Freedom Ring: Through Social Justice, Economic Empowerment, Love, Peace, and Unity.”
- A reflection of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
- Pertinence to the themes of Unity, Community, Love, Reconciliation, Social Justice, and Civil Rights.
Entries must be original and completed within the last five years in the following categories: 2-D (painting, drawing, mixed media, printmaking, photography) and 3-D (sculpture of all media). The maximum allowed size is 60” x 60” in any direction including frame or stand. Weight is not to exceed 50 lbs. unless special arrangements are made. Artwork must be suitably framed/mounted and wired for installation.
