KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The University of Tennessee, Knoxville will hold an active shooter exercise Tuesday. The mock scenario will be an active shooter in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building on campus from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

University representatives said campus visitors should expect to see emergency vehicles, fire and police crews, and "victims in realistic makeup." People in the area of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building have been asked by officials to be aware of their surroundings and avoid interfering with Tuesday's exercise. Access to the building will be tightly controlled. The parking lot on the south side near Volunteer Boulevard will be shut down for the day due to the exercise. McClung Tower and Garage will remain open during the drill.

The university's Department of Public Safety partnered with FEMA to facilitate the full-scale exercise to test campus plans in the event of a serious campus emergency.

Anyone with questions about the drill has been encouraged to call 865-974-3061.
