KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - If you missed Monday night's early deadline to submit certain qualifying documents for SNAP benefit, officials from the Tennessee Department of Human Services said on Tuesday, that Tennesseans should still file anyway.

Officials said there's still a chance late submissions could be reviewed and accepted.

Spokesperson Sky Arnold said,

"A limited amount of funds may be available for February benefits from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) after January 20, 2019. DHS will continue to process SNAP renewals, simplified reporting forms and new applications as they are received however we can not guarantee enough funding will be available for every applicant. SNAP benefits will be issued to eligible individuals as funds are available."

The department previously announced that SNAP benefits would be released early in February and that anyone renewing their benefits or filing a six month Simplified Report form needed to have any required paperwork in by close of business on Jan. 14.

According to the release, February SNAP benefits will arrive two weeks early for most people.

TDHS said the new deadline was imposed by the USDA.

'TDHS is reminding the more than 900,000 Tennesseans who depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that these benefits are the only funds they should expect until at least March."
