Lawrence County Youth Squirrel Hunt Set

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. ---The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is sponsoring a youth squirrel hunt on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 in Lawrence County.

Youth ages 6-16 are invited to come out to the Gum Springs Missionary Baptist Church and experience a squirrel hunt with dogs. Hunts will take place on Laurel Hill WMA as well as on private lands in the area. Everyone who signs up will be placed in a small hunting party with a guide and a dog handler. During the hunt, both guides and handlers will assist the young hunters with firearms and general safety.

This event will begin at 6 a.m. at the church. Breakfast is provided and hunters are will dine while organizers pair participants with guides and dog handlers. Anyone participating in the hunt in the age range of 10-16 must have successfully completed the Hunter Education course or possess the (Type 12) Apprentice Hunting license.

After the hunt, everyone will meet back at the church where lunch will be provided. All activities conclude at noon.
