KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - If you are planning a holiday getaway, you won't have to travel far to have a great experience.

The Tennessee Whiskey Trail is right in our backyard.

The trail runs from Memphis all the way to East Tennessee, where there are 15 distillers located between Chattanooga and right here in Knox and Sevier counties.

There are a total of 30 distilleries in the state, ranging from small, boutique-style operations to well-known distilleries like George Dickel and Jack Daniels.

All the distilleries are open seven days a week and offer behind-the-scenes tours and samplings of their products, even on Sunday -- you can buy whiskey directly from distilleries on Sundays.

There's also a mobile app (Android or iPhone) that provides directions and itineraries if you want to take a couple days to make the tour. There's even a passport that you can get stamped as you visit. If you complete the distillery tour, you get a myriad of prizes and recognition that you completed the entire tour.
