Heavy rain causes flash flooding across East Tenn., home collapses

Rural Metro Fire responded to a house collapse in Powell Sunday.

According to a spokesperson for the department, accumulation of rain on its roof caused the back wall of a double-wide mobile home to cave in. Officials said at least four people were inside at the time but made it out. safely. No one was injured, but the Red Cross was called to assist the family. Officials said the house it not completely destroyed and should be okay.

Heavy rain pummeled Sevier County and caused Dollywood to flood, too.

Nathan Raines shared videos of the amusement park on Sunday evening around 6:30 p.m., and water can be see flowing over the walkways in the park.

Flood advisories were in effect through late Sunday evening from Sevier, Blount, Knox, Anderson, Loudon and Roane counties because of heavy rainfall. Some areas picked up 1-2" in a short period of time.

The Glades community in Gatlinburg and Hwy 321 heading out of the city had multiple reports of flooding across the streets and in parking areas.

In Loudon County, there were reports of several trees down west of Lenior City.
