Body found inside car in Roane County's Poplar Creek

OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The Roane County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol and other rescue crews found a body Tuesday afternoon in a car near Poplar Creek Road.
Authorities said the car left the road and landed in Poplar Creek. A male buckled into the backseat was pronounced dead, according to THP. His body has been pulled from the vehicle that remains in the water.
Officials said the female driver of the car was not hurt from the incident.
Investigators are still working to determine how the car ran off of the roadway into the creek.
