Annual Arts Gala Brings the Party with Soul Music, Silent Auction and More in Athens, Tennessee

ATHENS, TN – The annual Arts Gala, Athens Area Council for the Arts’ most significant fundraiser, takes place 6:30-11 p.m. March 7 at The Arts Center in downtown Athens. The event is a 40th Birthday Party theme and supports community arts education. Tickets are $75 per person and advanced reservations by March 3 are required.

The evening begins with the opening of the silent auction, cash bar and hors d’oeuvres. Live music plays during cocktail hour as guests peruse auction items donated by area artists, individuals, and businesses. Before the buffet catered by Michael’s, there is a live auction of larger items ranging from original art to travel. Soul party band Jason Eskridge & Friends continue playing, bringing guests to the dance floor until 11 p.m.

Anyone interested in donating to the auction or to the event in any way may call The Arts Center. The dress code is eveningwear from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.


Since 1979, Athens Area Council for the Arts has presented thousands of performances, exhibitions, artist residencies, art classes and more by international, regional, and local artists of all types and genres. It has created and sustained many arts groups throughout the years, including the Athens Community Theatre, the Athens Area Children’s Choir, the Unity Gospel Choir, and has contributed technical assistance to many more groups and individuals.
