Missing Knoxville Pet Monkey Found Sunday In North Area Of City

The owner confirmed that the missing Capuchin was found Sunday afternoon in North Knoxville.

The monkey and his owner were visiting friends in North Knoxville last Sunday night. That's when a dog barked at Floyd and scared him off.

Ron Merritt said his girlfriend noticed Floyd sitting on their porch the next morning.

"She said, 'There's a monkey out here on the front porch on the deck,' and I said, 'No, you're kidding me.' We were getting ready for the eclipse, and sure enough that monkey was out here on the deck," Merritt said.

Word of monkey sightings quickly spread across Knoxville social media sites. The owner came to Ron's porch with Floyd's cage, his favorite snack, and toys in hopes of luring him in, but he saw no sign of the monkey.

Pretty Boy Floyd was sighted again on Adair Avenue Friday evening. According to a witness, people tried to find him and notified the owner, but he was not captured that night.

On Sunday afternoon, King confirmed that his monkey was discovered on Adair Avenue. Someone spotted him in their backyard and called King. King's daughter went out there to retrieve him. She lured the monkey using food and has taken it to a vet to get it checked out.
